The Islamic Cultural Community Center / Masjid Al-Tawba offers a wide range of services for the Muslim community of Minneapolis, MN, including:

1. Prayers

The five daily prayers are held in congregation in the masjid. See the prayer schedule for details of iqamah (prayer start times).
Jumuah (Friday) prayer with the khutbah (sermon) in English is offered at 1:15 p.m.
Eid prayer: The congregational Eid prayer is typically organized to be held in a convenient place within the Twin Cities.

2. Halaqaat (learning sessions)

There are a number of ongoing halaqaat throughout the week. Please check our Activities page for details.

3. Dawah (sharing the message of Islam)

We welcome groups or individuals interested in learning about Islam, or who would like to visit the center. We also offer meetings for anyone who wishes to speak to a scholar for the purpose of learning, research or seeking to accept Islam. Islamic etiquette of visiting: Since the center is a place of worship, we ask our visitors to kindly observe the following etiquette:
– Modest clothing for both men and women and scarves covering women’s hair;
– Shoes removed before entering the prayer halls;
– When greeting, men and women in the Islamic faith do not shake hands.

4. Marriage

Nikah (marriage) is performed according to the Islamic shariah (jurisprudence) rules. The center has a license from the State of Minnesota. An appointment should be scheduled in advance. To schedule an appointment, please call the center at (952)946-6061 or email: contact@altawba.org (a valid legal marriage license from the State of Minnesota is required for all marriages).

5. Family Counseling

Counseling services are available in our center for personal, family, and interpersonal issues. We will insha’Allah (God willing) work to provide solutions to social problems (such as divorce, marriage counseling, parent-child relationships, neighborhood relations, friendship matters, etc). For discussing any social issue or problem with the Imam, please call the center at (952)946-6061 or email: contact@altawba.org to make an appointment.

6. Arbitration

Our center provides a court-like service for the Muslim community. The Imam will work as a judge to resolve the dispute between any two parties or groups. Cases might be social, family matters, business, or any kind of conflict. Based on the complexity of the case, we might organize an arbitration committee from experts to help in solving the problem and taking the decision. All the arbitration decisions are final.

8. Ramadan

In the blessed month of Ramadan, all the regular halaqaat stop, and we have the following activities instead (The details and schedules for these activities will be announced at the time of Ramadan, and are subject to change):
Breaking the Fast: Every night to break the fast, milk, dates, and fruit will be provided insha’Allah (God willing).

Taraweeh prayer: Taraweeh prayer is held every night in congregation at the masjid.

Lecture: There will be a lecture every night after the first 4 rakaat (units of prayer) of the Taraweeh prayer.
